President Obama’s “Mission Accomplished” Moment
The very last day of 2012 and it’s been high drama up on Capitol Hill. Pundits, Reporters, Congressman, and Senators have all had their moment facing television cameras and talking about whether or not there will be a deal on the pending “Fiscal Cliff” negotiations. The anticipation is as palpable as waiting for midnight on New Year’s Eve and watching the iconic crystal ball drop in Times Square.
When the White House announced that President Obama will make remarks on the Fiscal Cliff about 1:30 P.M. from the South Court Auditorium in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, the speculation was rampant that something big was up.
However the drama was short lived when the President appeared in front of homogenous group of “Middle Class every day Americans” and spoke before an auditorium filled with more of the middle class, all clapping like the trained seals they were.
It rivaled everyone of Obama’s campaign style events he has had over the last four years, the audience was smitten. One audience member shouted, “Thank you for having us.” (Laughter.)
Was the President there to announce a deal? No, it was another way for Obama to twist the knife deeper into the backs of Republicans in Congress.
“For the last few days, leaders in both parties have been working toward an agreement that will prevent a middle class tax hike from hitting 98 percent of all Americans, starting tomorrow. Preventing that tax hike has been my top priority, because the last thing folks like the folks up here on this stage can afford right now is to pay an extra $2,000 in taxes next year. Middle-class families can’t afford it. Businesses can’t afford it. Our economy can’t afford it.”
Once again, Obama seized the opportunity to make fun of the lawmakers, during the most sensitive time in the negotiations. “But with this Congress, that was obviously a little too much to hope for at this time. (Laughter.) It may be we can do it in stages. We’re going to solve this problem instead in several steps.”
This was President Obama’s “Mission Accomplished” moment, “Now, today it appears that an agreement to prevent this New Year’s tax hike is within sight, but it’s not done. There are still issues left to resolve, but we’re hopeful that Congress can get it done. But it’s not done.“ (full text)
What kind of clown has this country elected, twice? There he was joking and playing to the audience, instead of being Presidential and taking the issue seriously. His demeanor was insulting to Congress and the American people. An immature, boorish performance from a true political hack.
This country will have to suffer under four more years of a president who neither respects the privilege of office nor the citizens he serves.
Not having to face election, Barack Obama’s true agenda is being revealed. He wants to stick it to the “wealthy’, an undefined group that includes large portions of his cherished middle class as well as business owners. Obama will ramp up his anti-oil and coal agenda.
The horrible Newtown massacre has provided him with impetus to demand more restrictive gun ownership legislation. Obama will continue to by pass Congress with Department mandates and Executive Orders.
Meanwhile he escapes blame for the four killed in Benghazi with a compliant Congress and worshiping media.
President Obama just wants to spend and spend with no end in sight and no resolve to fix our deficit. His phony tax on the top 2% is a drop in the ocean of red ink. Touting “tax cuts” for the middle class is a lie, in 2013, millions of Americans will face new Obamacare taxes. (Obamacare Tax Hikes)
The framers of the Constitution worked diligently to prevent this nation from ever being under the rule of a monarch. Instead we now have King Obama.
A New Year begins, but I don’t know how happy it will be.
