President Obama’s Latest “Gutsy” Decision
You would think that when state-owned NBC News interrupted regular programming today with Brian Williams, that President Obama found a cure for cancer? No such luck, it was only to tell us that President Obama flip-flopped once again and now believes that, “I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married,”
What a President, what a fearless, “gutsy” leader Barack Obama has proven to be. He gave a carefully couched statement on an issue that is so below the average American’s radar that it barely shows up in polling.
I’ve already stated this; that Obama can only discuss wedge issues in his re-election bid, because his achievements and leadership is way less than zero.
In Gallup’s polling on Americans’ List of Top Problems, “Gay Rights Issues” comes in at 41st out of a total list of 54.
What do you think are the top five issues for American voters?
1 Economy in General 26%
2 Unemployment/Jobs 22%
3 Poor Healthcare/hospitals; high cost of healthcare 15%
4 Government/Congress/Politicians; poor leadership; corruption; abuse of power 12%
5 Immigration/Illegal Aliens 10%
Gay Rights has an asterisk, because it barely registers among voters.
Today’s statement by Barack Obama, symbolizes how ineffective he has been as President and Commander-in-Chief.
I said it way back in 2008, before the election, that Obama was an “empty suit”.
Obama’s sit down interview announcement today was no accident. David Axelrod, who carefully steers every appearance and word Obama utters, has orchestrated his statement today. Joe Biden was told to talk about Gay Marriage on NBC’s “Meet the Press.’’
On Tuesday, North Carolina voters outlawed gay marriage by a 61%-39% margin. They were the 31st state to have voted in favor of constitutional amendments that seek to defend traditional definitions of marriage as a heterosexual union. Eight out of ten key “Swing States” that Obama needs to win in November have voted to ban same sex marriage.
They are; North Carolina, Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Nevada and Wisconsin, which represents 120 Electoral College votes out of a total of 270, needed to win. In other words, those states represent 44% of the possible Electoral College votes to win the Presidency.
Not only is Obama dividing the nation by classes, religious beliefs, gender and income. He now seeks to divide Americans on State’s Rights. Marriage laws are strictly defined by the individual states as outlined in the U.S. Constitution.
The Obama campaign, re branded with the slogan “Forward”, can only talk about Gay Marriage, or Birth Control or your “fair share”.
U.S. voters are really hoping that our president might approve the Keystone pipeline, or open up Federal lands to oil and gas exploration. Approve off shore drilling, repeal Obamacare, rescind the thousand of pages of EPA regulations. Improve the economy and unemployment.
Not President Obama, he’s busy pointing in the opposite direction and changing the subject. The real change will have to wait for Mitt Romney, when he becomes the 45th President of the United States in January 2013. Meanwhile, we’re stuck with “gutsy”.
