President Obama’s Response On Terror: Smoke and Mirrors

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

Listen carefully, quiet class, the professor, President Obama is giving a speech. Without his trusty teleprompter, Obama has to read printed pages and stumbles several times over his text. The problem here is not the delivery, but the content. President Obama is once again repeating his standard policy boiler plates and Ad hominems.

President Obama delivers his first speech on terrorism

Nothing to see here folks, everybody just move along. The American people put their trust in the President and expect him to step up and give us the facts and NOT repeat policy worked out months ago. Obama’s latest speech on terror did nothing to reassure us or tell us how he will fix a broken system.

“This was not a failure to collect intelligence, it was a failure to integrate and understand the intelligence that we already had,” Obama said after a two-hour meeting with his national security team. He added, “We have to do better, we will do better and we have to do it quickly. American lives are on the line.”

It’s another band-aid on a gaping wound. We knew within an hour of the failed underwear bomber’s attempt that this was not an isolated extremist, al-Qaeda was involved, we failed to connect the dots and we’ve gone backwards instead of forward in fighting terrorism.

President Obama continues to blow smoke at us in his third attempt at addressing this issue. This administration does not have the ability to jump ahead of the public’s expectations to reverse course, accept responsibility and give us solutions.

The White House Situation Room is no longer the intelligence and crisis management center, but a Harvard think tank, where they spend hours upon hours mulling the context of their words instead of the necessary results.

In today’s speech Obama said nothing about the multiple shutdowns of airports, such as those in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Bakersfield and Newark. We still have the same uncoordinated national security policies that were in place when the terrorist boarded the airplane. Obama just stuck to the script probably written yesterday, because nothing new was uncovered from his national security team. The “buck” does not stop with this President, it just gets kicked down the road, so some one other than himself can take the fall.

Unfortunately, it will be you and I when the next terrorist attack happens because Obama is only looking at himself in the mirror and failing the entire nation as a leader.

Good, well written post. In my mind from the day that O issued new deportment standards for passengers in the fuselage, I knew we passengers were the first line of defense!

Al Qaeda is lucky. We tell them everything they would want to know about how we will react and within what time frame and then they respond the way they always respond: a surprise attack. As you say, nothing has changed – even though Obama ran his election on the poor old term.

Thanks for stopping by my post.
