Obama: Move “From an Era of Borrow and Spend” to Humongous Borrowing and Spending

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

President Obama really said,  “moving from an era of borrow-and-spend to one where we save and invest.” That is the most ludicrous statement Obama has made among the thousands of whoppers over the last two years. His budget is over $3.6 trillion and the deficit will rise $9.3 trillion more in ten years. He is still insisting that he will cut the deficit in half despite the largest spending in U.S. history.

But take heart, Obama has brought “change” to Washington. Gone are those two pieces of glass from his teleprompter we’ve all grown to love. No longer will Obama be shifting his gaze from right to left, left to right and so on as he reads his script.

Progress as the Communists say — he now stares blankly straight ahead as he reads from the huge flat screen about 20 feet in front of him.

Tonight’s presser was the final push on a week long campaign to get his budget passed. It started with his two days in California last week and an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. On Sunday it was an interview on 60 Minutes.

They even went grass roots style. David Plouffe, formerly Obama’s campaign manager and now an adviser to Organizing for America, a group overseen by the DNC; used the 13 million-strong e-mail list put together during the campaign asking volunteers to go door to door Saturday to urge their neighbors to sign a pledge in support of Obama’s budget plan. Yikes, kind of reminds me of Hitler’s “Brown Shirts”.

The Q & A portion went excruciatingly slow, with only thirteen questions asked and answered in about fifty minutes. Obama can’t seem to answer the press with out a very boring long winded statement. I don’t think this is a sign of intellect but simply his way to avoid a misstep. The entire transcript here.

In fact I wonder if he is getting hand signals form his Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, Senior Advisor, David Axelrod and his Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs who were all nervously standing in the back of the room.

All Obama wants to do is use the financial crisis to make his view of government stronger and put controls on all forms of commerce. The Obama administration is considering asking Congress to give the Treasury secretary unprecedented powers to initiate the seizure of non-bank financial companies, such as large insurers, investment firms and hedge funds, whose collapse would damage the broader economy.

Obama’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel talked about exploiting the global financial crisis this way,

“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

It’s down right scary and the only way to stop this is to be aware and involved. Call your Congressman and Senators to complain. Talk to your co-workers, friends and family — be pro active and fight back to stop this European Socialist style of government. Don’t let the U.S.A. become the U.S.S.A.
