Why I Will Not Vote For Barack Obama
I cannot in good conscience cast my vote for Barack Obama for President of the United States. I cannot vote for a man that sat in the pews of a church in Chicago for twenty years listening to the racist and vile hatred of his preacher, Jeremiah Wright and then claim he never heard a word.
To quote Democratic Rep. Jerrold Nadler of New York, “Obama Didn’t Have [the] Political Courage” to Leave Wright’s Racist Anti-American Church.
I cannot vote for a man who also lacked the Political Courage to NOT associate with terrorist Bill Ayers.
I cannot vote for a man who lacked the good judgement and Political Courage to disassociate himself from the PLO operative and vowed anti-Semite, Rashid Khalidi.
I cannot vote for a man who as a State Senator in Illinois voted 130 times “Present” – instead of taking a stand and voting Aye or Nay. Is this what Barack Obama thinks leadership is?
I cannot vote for a man who supports infantcide.
I cannot vote for a man who in his campaign speeches ridicules hard working average Americans, who dare to question his policies, like “Joe the Plumber”.
I cannot vote for a man who talks about “spreading the wealth” to “Joe the Plumber”, and Chicago Public Radio in 2001 and then tries to claim that’s not what he meant.
I cannot vote for a man who wants to bankrupt the coal industry, put thousands out of work and force us to pay higher energy costs.
I cannot vote for a man who has an agenda of huge entitlement programs that will expand the deficit by over one trillion dollars in four years.
I cannot vote for a man who lacks the Political Courage to stand up to dictators, rougue governments and terrorists.
I cannot vote for this left-wing candidate who wants to try failed European socialist policies on this United States.
I cannot vote for Barack Obama.
I will vote for John McCain.

I care. I care for this nation. I care for the Constitution, which is NOT a ‘living document’ and I care for the Bill of Rights. I care very much. Now we will have change alright, but it will most definitely not be for the better. This nation will no longer be based on the principles upon which it was founded. It is a clear and significant message that the younger voters have been ‘indoctrinated’ into a socialistic mindset. Can you hear the deathknell?
It’s because I care about the Constitution that I supported Barack Obama. Which party was the one that supported illegal wiretapping, illegal search and seizures, torture, and accuses the minority party of treason as long as we’re fighting an endless war against an abstract concept? The Republican party may have been the party of small government, but not anymore.
By the way, I don’t care if you don’t agree with Obama’s policies on the issues, but don’t accuse him of associating with terrorists, because that’s not true. Witness:

The same publication that you cited as saying that Obama’s tax plan would add trillions to the deficit said this about both of the candidate’s plans:

In other words, both would add trillions to the national debt. However, McCain’s would add $5 trillion while Obama’s would add “only” $3.4 trillion. This is perhaps a case of settling for the lesser of two evils.

It is ironic that the sources you use for your “proof” – Factcheck.org is run and funded by The Annenberg Foundation. (My post did not have any links to that site)
Barack Obama and Bill Ayers worked together for the Woods Foundation that was funded by the very same Annenburg Foundation.
You trust Factcheck.org and talk about the Constitution while repeating sentences form The Daily Kos, Moveon.org and The Huffington Post — all solidly in the tank for Obama.

Emily, my fellow American, I too am disgruntled with the Republicans for their incursions into our rights and liberties. Unlike you, however, I do not think it is wise to jump from the frying pan into the fire. McCain was and is a centrist. Obama, on the other hand, is an extreme leftist. Historically speaking, which is more likely to take away our Constitutional rights and freedoms?
The Annenberg foundation was founded by William Annenberg, a conservative, and the president and chairman of the foundation, Leonore Annenberg, endorsed John McCain. If you visit the site, you will notice that it calls out the Obama campaign on its lies, too. If you have doubts about the reliability of its information, you may check the sources it used.

Does the LA Times count as a reliable source? That’s the source I used to contest your claims that Obama’s plan would “add trillions to the deficit” (technically true, but not giving the full picture). Indeed, as I said, it’s the source you got that information from.
The first link you cited was to an opinion piece.
The second was to an article that quoted as its only source from the WorldNetDaily, a conservative blog — sorry, “news and opinion website.”
The third was to an article that plainly says that most of these “present” votes were part of larger political strategies. You can hardly argue that he voted “present” on some bills because he just didn’t care.
The fourth is from an article on a site run by the Witherspoon Institute, a conservative think tank.
I have no beef with the Washington Independent, it is as far as I can see non-partisan. However, I don’t see anything in the article that says that Obama mocked Joe the Plumber. It does say that he mocked _John McCain_ (sorry for lack of formatting — does BBCode work here?).
That YouTube video is kind of funny. POLITICAL AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZING — duh duh dun!

No apologies necessary… not for my sake anyway. You want ME to tell YOU? Well then, if you don’t mind please provide your age so I can limit myself to historical references that predate your lifetime experiences. Anything that falls within the period of your adult life should be something you already know if you have kept yourself informed.
Regarding Obama’s political leaning, obviously my interpretation of the term ‘leftist’ must not coincide with your interpretation.

14? And you supported Obama? Interesting. If you are being honest about your age then I will assume that you are still in school and attending history classes of some sort, depending on the curriculum of the school. If this is indeed the case then I would suggest that you look elsewhere for political history books to read in addition to the school textbooks. I’ve found school textbooks to be somewhat factually lacking whenever I help my grandson with his homework.
BTW I came back to inquire if your comment to me was only rhetorical. I do have better ways to spend my time than to respond to rhetoric.
Well, sort of. I was asking for specific examples of extreme leftists taking away our rights. Cuz, I mean, from what I know about history it’s mostly been the conservatives — although taking any policy too far could lead to totalitarianism, I suppose.
I didn’t know there were history books focusing specifically on politics. I’ll have to check that out. You’re right, the history textbooks we get do kind of suck.
