Obama Already Believes He’s President

Obama’s arrogance knows no bounds. CBS Newa reports, “Barack Obama’s new campaign plane is nothing short of grand…..His chair has his name and campaign logo embroidered on the back top — “Obama ‘08” on one line and “President” underneath”

Thinking you are already President before the election may be overly presumptive — but it’s Obama’s views on how to run the country that really stink.

Obama, seeing that the polls show a majority wants us to drill now — suddenly parrots Nancy Pelosi’s dumb idea of tapping the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. He’d like to release up to 10 percent of the 700 million barrels of oil. The SPR is there for emergencies like an oil embargo and for the military.

In fact it was created after the 1973-1974 Arab oil embargo, is a federally maintained petroleum stockpile intended to make up for any shortfall caused by a temporary supply disruption.

Almost a month ago, July 7, 2008, in St. Louis, the same day the price of a barrel of oil went above $145 a barrel, Obama stated:

“I do not believe that we should use this strategic oil reserves at this point. I have said and in fact supported a congressional resolution that said that we should suspend putting more oil into the strategic oil reserve. But the strategic oil reserve I think has to be reserved for a genuine emergency.”

What Obama and Pelosi are arguing for represents only one day of our nation’s oil demand! It points out that Obama does not have a serious or realistic energy policy.

He’s against drilling — but wait five minutes and he’ll say offshore might be okay with him — BUT he wants “big oil to give families a thousand-dollar rebate by taxing their windfall profits,”

Here’s some history: Congress enacted a windfall profits tax in 1980, during an earlier era of high oil prices, but repealed it in 1988 amid concerns the tax was discouraging domestic oil development. Last year, the House approved $18 billion in new taxes on the largest oil companies, but they were blocked by Republicans in the Senate.

The U.S. Department of Interior says there are 17.9 billion barrels of oil available off-shore in areas under the federal drilling ban.

Obama like Pelosi and Harry Reid do not favor nuclear energy and drilling — so they’ll let the economy falter as gas prices remain high — just to stick it to George Bush — and you and I.

The Democrats are in real trouble over this as Zogby International polls show a majority of likely voters across the political spectrum support off-shore oil drilling, with vast majorities of Republicans (90%) and independents (75%) in favor of drilling for oil off U.S. coastal waters – more than half of Democrats (58%) also said they favor off-shore drilling. Republicans (80%) and political independents (57%) are much more likely to favor drilling for oil in ANWR than Democrats (40%).

A note to Obama — stop living in the bubble of your staff, adoring media and fans — you may stupidly believe you’ve won the election — but we will be the one’s to decide who becomes the President of these United States.
