Message to Fred Thompson – Stay in the Race to Keep Kicking Huckabee’s Ass

Sunday, January 20, 2008

Fred Thompson I implore you to stay in the Presidential race so you can continue to be a thorn in the side of Mike Huckabee.

UPDATE: 01/22/08 Too late, Thompson drops out.

In yesterday’s South Carolina primary, Fred Thompson came in third with 16% of the vote and Mitt Romney got 15%. Both candidates took away votes from both Mike Huckabee’s second place finish of 30% and the winner John McCain with only 33%.

Today while campaigning in Florida, Huckabee said, “We obviously wanted and we honestly thought we would win. The fact of Fred Thompson’s being in the race took away some votes that we most likely had. I believe every analyst has looked at it that way.”

So Mike Huckabee has to blame Fred for his defeat. Boo hoo Mike, stop crying and maybe keep praying?

Meanwhile John McCain got a scant 33% of the total vote — what kind of victory is that? Exit polling showed that just 3 in 10 Republicans voted for Mr. McCain. The rest of his votes came from Independents. The upcoming primaries are only for registered Republicans; this will be the real test for McCain who has alienated so many conservatives and party members.

McCain is NO CONSERVATIVE – just remember McCain-Feingold and the McCain-Kennedy Immigration fiasco. McCain opposed the Bush tax cuts, twice in 2001 and 2003. He wants Guantanamo closed and the enemy combatants tried in U.S. courts. He’s no Republican and not my choice for a candidate.

Mike Huckabee will see less and less evangelicals in the upcoming primaries. Thompson, returned home Saturday to Tennessee to consult with his mom about his plans.
