Kill the Amnesty Bill — Final Stand to Stop Immigration Bill S1348
Update: 06/25/07: The Cloture vote on the NEW Amnesty Bill S1639 is now set for 11:30 A.M, Tuesday, June 26th. Keep the pressure on and keep calling especially early Tuesday morning!
This is the final battle to stop the Amnesty Bill in the Senate. The Senators won’t admit it, but our pressure is having an effect. We have to keep calling, faxing and emailing. Today I called all of the 24 possible “flippers” and let them know that they should stay the course and continue to vote NO on this Bill.
I took 2 hours of my morning to call the Washington toll free number: 800-862-5530. If the Senator’s Washington office number was busy, I’d call one of their district offices available here: Senators Supporting Immigration Bill S1348
I always try to give my comments to a staffer and avoid being passed off to voice mail. Sometimes they would ask me what zip code I was calling from and if I gave my Los Angeles zip code then some would try to spike the call by telling me to speak to my California Senators. Well two can play this game — now when I call I’m armed with one of their state’s city zip codes, available here. I also have their voting roll call record on the last cloture available here.
I speak to them politely and without a pause giving my thoughts on how bad the bill is. The major point being that there are existing laws in place to both build the fence and close the border and have work place enforcement. Their proposed bill gives instant Amnesty to 20 million illegal aliens BEFORE any enforcement and it’s wrong! I feel better each time I voice my constitutional right to tell an elected official the truth — after all they are working for me, I pay their salaries don’t I. You do too — call them, tell them, don’t let them off the hook.

Are you claiming that if this behavior continues there will be more Republicans than Democrats getting a lump of coal from Santa in this year’s XMAS stockings?

I don’t understand why more people aren’t talking about the estimated 2.4 TRILLION dollars this bill will cost over the next 10 years and where this money will come from! I feel this is a conservative estimate and it could be double! We are talking such a massive influx of people we may be standing in line for water. Current INS estimates for the illegal population are 23 to 48 million not 12 million. The 12 million estimate usually used is not a lie just several years old. After these people bring in up to 11 family members we could see our population doubled. There are no plans for providing entitlements or basic infrastructure for this massive horde of hostile invaders. No mistake this bill is a country killer and is about getting us into the North American Union. Say goodbye to national sovernty and the bill of rights. The constitution would become secondary to international law, actually it pretty much already is.
We need everyone to get very active on this, the vote is due tomorrow!
To object to that family member bill – don’t recall the name (is it familial something or other?) you can go to that Numbers USA site and it will send a fax against it to Congress. Or you could do that.
I had no idea that these people could bring all those “family.” It’s disgusting and it could be immediately nipped in the bud. Why can’t congress get a hold on that aspect of immigration. There is something just so totally offensive about arguing over those who traverse a desert while allowing in up to, I heard, 40, alleged relatives at a time. Now doing away with that option would be a highly effective WALL, it would be instantly effective against none immigrants that would otherwise have entered, and it could be “built” with the stroke of a pen!

What these people are costing AMERICANS now is obcene. between education they’r stealing from our children, medical services we end up paying for and depressed wages how can we even consider opening ourselves up to more expence that only benefits big bisiness?
