Mayor Villaraigosa says, “Let’s Not Jump To Conclusions” About Griffith Park Arson Suspect

Tuesday, May 8, 2007

Yes that’s right, at the 11PM press Conference, Mayor “Photo-Op” Villaraigosa said we should not jump to any hasty conclusions about the arson suspect. The L.A. Times said; —LAPD says a man arrested on suspicion of careless disposal of a cigarette. “LAPD Deputy Chief Charlie Beck said the 20-year-old being treated at the Grossman Burn Center in Sherman Oaks was arrested and booked on suspicion of careless disposal of a cigarette. LAPD sources had earlier said the man said he had accidentally set the fire while smoking in the hills above the Greek Theatre.”

The Mayor was flanked by L.A. Fire Chief Douglas Barry, who added that an arson investigation was on going. Police Chief Bratton was also present but looked like a whipped dog and offered no comments accept to hand it all back to the Fire Chief after the Mayor rattled on for about ten minutes.

This is typical of the Mayor who has no credibility. Last week he slammed his own Los Angeles Police Department, accusing them of brutality and shameful behavior at MacArthur Park on May 1st. He maligned the LAPD all over town at multiple events — never suggesting that we should perhaps wait for the four separate investigations to conclude and then make an assessment. Now he urges caution about laying any suspicion on the admitted arsonist. Is it perhaps that the suspect might be Hispanic and perhaps an Illegal Alien? We’ll find that out on Wednesday morning. But I’ll put money on it. I think the Mayor is a scumbag, as corrupt as they come and is just taking up space so he can make a run for California Governor.

Meanwhile Chief Bratton should resign for his failure to defend and uphold the honor of his own department. He’s doing his mea culpa’s to insure another five year term as Chief of Police.

But hats off to the brave Los Angeles Firefighters who have done an incredible job in containing the fire, saving historic homes, the Griffith Observatory, the L.A. Zoo, the Gene Autry Museum and no loss of life!

The park will take years to recover, there will be no open fires permitted for quite a while. The only bright side is that there won’t be many trees available to hang Pinatas for the birthday parties of scores of anchor babies of the growing illegal alien population!
