Hillary Clinton Wants to Erase Her Vote for Authorizing War in 2002

Friday, May 4, 2007

The saying goes — “it is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind” — but this is ridiculous. Hillary Clinton who has been defending her vote for authorization of the war in 2002 has now done a complete 180.

HillaryVaneSmallerSenator Clinton proposed Thursday that Congress repeal the authority it gave President Bush in 2002 to invade Iraq, “It is time to reverse the failed policies of President Bush and to end this war as soon as possible,” Mrs. Clinton said as she joined Senator Robert C. Byrd, Democrat of West Virginia, in calling for a vote to end the authority as of Oct. 11, the fifth anniversary of the original vote. Today, Hillary added more confusion saying that she is willing to keep a limited number of troops in Iraq?

Here’s my problem with Hillary and the rest of the Democratic presidential candidates — their policy is strictly a mirror image of the public opinion polls. They say what they think we want to hear.

I want a President who has strong convictions and will stand up for what’s right not what is expedient. Presidents have to make tough decisions, many that are uncomfortable for the country. When you are right and the choice is just there is no other direction to go. I just cannot stomach the thought of voting for any of the Democrats, they preach defeatism, surrender and retreat.

Isn’t it interesting how the Democrats have picked up the use of symbolic calendar dates — just like al Queda? But since Osama bin Laden is crafting the Democratic Party’s platform it’s not really much of a surprise. Maybe we have a hint at who might be Hillary’s running mate — John Murtha?

The more she speaks the less chance she has for nomination let alone election.
