The Cut and Run and Surrender Now Democrats are trying to erase their support for the Iraq War — so it won’t be the issue of the 2008 election. But I live in the real world and the Democrats will not only have Iraq to take care of, but Iran, Al Queda and the possibility of another terrorist attack on American soil.

If their selfish ideology becomes a reality then this country will be reliving the Jimmy Carter era — God help us all!

On Tuesday, Biden said he would oppose any effort by President Bush to increase U.S troops in Iraq as part of a new war strategy. “We’ve already broken Iraq,” he said “We’re about to break the United States military.”

Biden said his committee would hold extensive hearings on Iraq throughout January, with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Robert Gates among the top administration officials to testify. Biden did not rule out summoning recently retired Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, criticized for not sending enough troops to Iraq to suppress the violence after the April 2003 fall of Baghdad.

Biden also warned that congressional Republicans – not Democrats – would suffer in the 2008 elections if they do not join him in speaking out against Bush and opposing troop increases in Iraq.

If the violence continues two years from now, “every one of those Republican senators – and there’s 21 of them up for re- election – knows that that is likely to spell his or her doom,” Biden said.

Actually it is this country’s doom that he is invoking.
